I know it’s been a while since I posted last, this blog has kind of gotten thrown to the wayside amidst all the hustle and bustle in my life. However, as high school comes to a close and I am slowly turning down a new road in my life, I figured now was as good a time as ever to pick it back up!
With college coming just around the bend, I was forced to make a lot of big decisions. The biggest being where to actually attend! I was fortunate enough to receive admission into every institution I applied to, however that only made my decision more difficult. I slowly began to weed through the different schools, hoping to find my perfect match- to find a school that stood alone among the rest. I knew I wanted a big campus feel, that ruled out a few- but still left me with many more to sift through. I knew that I wanted a school with a great graduate program that I could smoothly transition into from  undergraduate studies at that university- that only left me with Auburn and University of Georgia.
When it came down to it, my heart chose UGA. I didn’t decide to be a bulldog based upon the school’s outstanding pre-law/pre-professional program, or more importantly their outstanding law school- because in all honesty, I could still become a great Sports attorney even if I graduated from Auburn University. I chose the University of Georgia because it offered something that no other school I looked at could, it offered up a sense of belonging. Ever since I attended my first Georgia Bulldog football game with my dad, Athens has had a little piece of my heart. I knew that I wanted to be able to call the school I attended home for the next four years and I don’t think I could have done that anywhere else. There’s something to be said for a campus that can stretch over the course of several miles but somehow be so welcoming that it shrinks down to the size of your palm!
Senior year is a stressful time, it’s full of making big decisions and saying goodbyes to things and people that were once so important to you. However, with the decision to attend UGA, saying those goodbyes and making those decisions has become easier. I know that come August 7th, I’ll wave goodbye to the house I grew up in but be welcomed into the Bulldawg family with open arms. That assurance his how I know I made the right decision in choosing the school that had the one thing none of the others did, that sense of belonging!
I’ll be sure to keep this blog updated more frequently as I’m sure college will be a growing experience worth documenting.
